Another Lime Rickey Card

I just can't stop with these papers! I was stamping at a friend's house today, the very talented Emily (Hi, Em!), and was inspired to make this card from one of her card layouts. Amazingly, there is no bling on it, but there is ribbon of course. It is nearly impossible for me to create without ribbon. The stamps used on it are Hero Arts, a mix of wood mounted and acrylic stamps.

Do I have Lime Rickey out of my system yet? I don't think so. I have an Asian themed card brewing in my head right now. Stay tuned...

Gina A. is on her way!

Hello all!
Well, I just have to say I had a ball working with these great supplies! As soon as I saw one of the blue papers from this line I thought of ocean waves and I had my inspiration. I used beach pictures from a family outing in 1991 ... when our daughter was 18 years younger and I was 18-plus-plus pounds lighter - LOL! (No, you will NOT be seeing any recent bathing suit pictures of me in this blog!!!) The design is fun - a little "outside the box" for me since I used almost a paper-piecing technique to create the waves, sun and clouds, something I don't normally do - but I love the result and I was able to fit 8 photos into this 2-page spread. I used a lot of bling ... maybe too much? (Is there such a thing as too much bling?!?!?) But I was having too much fun to stop, and I still feel it all enhances my photos. The waves across the bottom of the two 12 x 12 layouts are created by using a pop-dotted layer over the same paper. I used white ink to highlight the edging and give a feeling of the ocean foam. There's a pull-out journaling block behind the main photo. And the sun (peaking behind the "cloud" in the right- layout) and corner enhancement (on the bottom left-hand corner of the left-layout) are rub-ons with bling added. The title and button embellishments were created with our super-dee-duper
white uni-ball Signo pen. I love this pen! (Yes, this is what I used to write the word "pull" on the button of the journaling block - cool, isn't it?!?!!?) After all this, I still had some paper and a button leftover to create a little birthday card. This is a great way to use your scraps of paper and the one-or-two embellishments leftover after creating a layout - everything is already matched so it goes together quickly.
Can't wait until our next assignment!

More Cards...

Here are 2 more cards I made using Lime Rickey. This paper has been so much fun to play around with!

Embellished Drink Holder & Coaster Album

Hi Everyone,
Jill made the cutest things with Lime Rickey. Jill is the only person I know who actually decorates drink carriers and ketchup bottles. Now, everyone will be decorating them. She also made an adorable coaster album. I'm sure she would love to write about how she made these creations but she is slightly computer challenged. We don't hold it against her because she is so creative.

More Projects!

I kept playing with that yummy Lime Rickey last night. I don't usually create in bright or primary colors, but something about this line (and especially the spotted paper) is speaking to me. Here are 2 more cards I made. The birthday card uses the glazed brads that coordinate with the Lime Rickey paper. The "hello" card uses lots of Dew Drops, which go great with anything! Both greetings come from different Hero Arts clear sets. I have fallen in love with the Hero Arts clear stamps. They are of such high quality and stamp like rubber. After I deliver my son's lunchbox to him (grrrr!) and drop off his friend's cello left here from Saturday night, I will play and post some more.

My First Project

What a pleasure it has been to create tonight! I have made one card so far with the Lime Rickey paper. Along with the paper, I used our own Lisa Hetrick designed "Mardigras Butterfly" made by Unity Stamp Company. It is too cool to have a stamp designer among us! I had fun mixing Dew Drop and coloring with my Copics to make this card. Be on the lookout for more creations from us.

Hi from Gina A!

My first reaction to scrapbooking was “No way!” Though I’ve always loved photography and sharing my photos, I felt I just didn’t have the time or talent for such creative memory keeping. But in 1996 at the urging of a friend I created my first layout and something clicked. I dabbled for a while but my scrapbooking habit really took off when I purchased my first paper trimmer. Now I freely admit to being “hooked” on this wonderful hobby and I love to share it with others. I enjoy trying new techniques and reading up on the latest and greatest the industry has to offer. And yes, I admit to being a “paper addict”! But no matter how many supplies I purchase, I am always comforted by the knowledge that scrapbooking is still cheaper than therapy! I scrapbook by theme vs. chronologically, so I never feel like I’m “behind” and I adore creating mini-albums … instant gratification and fun results! My favorite aspect of the hobby is journaling. I consider journaling to be the greatest embellishment I can add to a page. What will be more interesting to the viewer and more meaningful to me in the future – a ribbon or some heartfelt words about my truest feelings and values? I love working at Photoscraps – you can find me behind the counter most Monday evenings – and I regularly teach our 101 classes for beginners and the “write on!” class for those wishing to learn journaling techniques. I am so excited to be a part of the Design Team and look forward to seeing everyone’s creative visions come to life!

Our first Design Team Projects will be using....

Lime Rickey!!!! I personally can't get enough of these fun colors and papers. I had to play as soon as I got my papers. Kirstin was nice enough to have a photo shoot with the neighbors Hannah and Kelsey. The fun photos go perfect with the whimsical patterned papers.

Lime Rickey

After all the waiting for our first Design Team products to arrive, we had to make a decision...wait even longer or pick a new product. Well, I am not one for delayed gratification, so we chose a new product. Drum roll please...

Lime Rickey, one of the newest lines from Basic Grey, is what we will be designing with. Have you seen it yet? It is bright and bold and fun!

Tracy and I had a great time opening packages of brads and buttons and other goodies in the Lime Rickey line and dividing them up amongst the DT members, not to mention picking out the sheets of paper we want to use. And because they are so cool, we even added some Dew Drops for us to play with. Now the fun can begin!

Our goal is to have our DT projects on display in the store and posted to this blog by May 9th. However, Tracy shamed all of us and came in with an awesome 2 page layout mere hours after getting her DT stuff! Ok, let's just say some of us (ahem, definitely me!) require more than an hour or 2 to create.

So now, I need to clean my stamping desk and get to playing. Does anyone else besides me have a messy desk? Hahahaha...

Keep visiting the blog and look for our Lime Rickey creations!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the new Photo Scraps Design Team blog! My name is Cindy, and I am proud to be the Photo Scraps Design Team Leader (or Design Team Diva as Lisa H has taken to calling me). A little bit about me...I am a rubber stamper and cardmaker, and have been stamping for over 8 years. I have been published multiple times in the Take Ten as well as Stampington & Co. I've even made a mini-book or two. I am very passionate about paper crafting as a whole, and love to learn new things, especially techniques. Many of you have sat at my table at Demo Day, taken classes with me, or have seen me working in the store on Saturdays. When I am not stamping, I love to read, and to spend time with my husband and our 2 boys, as well as our menagerie of pets.

The Photo Scraps Design Team is eagerly awaiting the arrival of our first packet of goodies to create with. In the meantime, we are drooling over all the yummy new products that have arrived in the store. We look forward to showing you our first Design Team creations!
