My Backyard Adventure with BoBunny

Hi all,
Gina P. here to finally post my DT Blog. Considering that I love all things summer/beach themed, I enjoyed using this new BoBunny line for this months DT. I scraplifted one of my layouts from one of my favorite magazines to create "My Girls". I used my Big Shot to cut out my spellbinders Labels 1 to make double layered tags for journaling and my title. But the real fun was creating the flowers and leaves. The flowers were easy and an old tecnique that I have always liked the look of. It's just different sized circles layered offset with a brad on top! Could not be easier or more fun with all the great patterns and colors in this paper line. (I literally could play around making these all day!) Here's the creative part, I hand cut short, fat leaves and then added texture by cutting into the leaves very closely at different lengths. (Much like a new pair of scissors that some craft icon may have come out with already!) I was pretty pleased with the look and felt it made my scraplifted layout different enough to call my own! BTW, the distressed white edges of the papers make for a fun and fresh look for summer, nice work BoBunny!

My second page was made using a template to cut out a big interstate sign out of different papers from the same BoBunny line. Here the creativity comes from the clouds "floating" around the page. Nothing new, just the back side of one of the pages cut out and popped up on the page, easy! Also, the top paper has a sunshine beaming on it, so when cutting out my sign I aimed for the sun to beam on my pics and positioned the clouds around the pics and sun to not cover them up. BTW, the clouds come in varying sizes perfect for journaling, date, and titles! Happy Scrapping!

9 Techniques with one Hero Arts stamp

Hi Everyone,

Hero Arts stamps are some of our favorite stamps to work with and their blog always has great ideas.  I couldn't resist linking to Swan Lady Impressions, aka Janet's blog.  She made all the following stamped images and has the instructions written out on her blog.

Bo Bunny Block Party

Bo Bunny's new Block Party line screams summertime, picnics, and the 4th of July. I looked at the colors and immediately thought of my son's baseball team! The First Baseman is a layout about my son's favorite position to play in this game that he loves. The Block Party papers feature some hibiscus flowers which didn't really work with my chosen pictures so I hid them behind chipboard stars from the line. I poked holes through the chipboard stars and further decorated them with Bo Bunny's brads. The chipboard alphies in the title came from Pink Paislee and really helped convey the mood I was going for in this layout. They are now my favorite alphies - which is why I also own them in Navy and Black Houndstooth!! Don't wait too long to check out this hot line as we are on the third re-order of some of the pieces!!

Sun Kissed Pop Up Album

Hi Everyone,

When I saw this line, I knew it was a mini book waiting to be made.  The colors just sang to me.  I love all the different summer images on the papers and added a touch of Dew Drops and Stickles to make them pop.  I will be running this as a class in July.  Dates coming soon.

Inspired by Emily

Wow, 3 posts from me in one day! Today has been a busy and productive day. This latest card was inspired by my friend Emily (hi, Em!). I played at her house yesterday and made a card with similar colors and stamps. I wanted to recreate that card with my supplies and the Bo Bunny line Peacock Lane that we are using for June. The stamps and bling are by Hero Arts and the image was colored in with Copic markers, plus I added some Stickles to the flame of the candle and the sprinkles of the cupcake. Enjoy!

Dogwood class cards

Coming in July...Delightful Dogwood card class! I just finished making the last sample. What a gorgeous stamp this is and what fun it is to play with. In this class, we will be making 4 cards using Hero Arts Dogwood stamp. See my previous post for the 4th card. We will be coloring and CUTTING on 2 of the cards. I am not usually a cutter, but some images call for it and this is one of those images that looks great when the petals are cut out. I hope you are able to join me!

New class and DT sample

I am currently working on cards for a new class featuring the gorgeous dogwood stamp from Hero Arts. I think of all the flowering trees out there, the dogwood is my favorite. This card will be made in my upcoming class but it also uses a piece of Peacock Lane paper from Bo Bunny, and we are using papers from Bo Bunny this month for our design team. This card will not be up on the DT wall so if you are interested in looking at it person it will be with the class samples. Check out that awesome background...it is one of the new Asian folders from Cuttlebug.
Keep watching for the rest of the class samples and more design team goodies!

Expect the Expected from Gina A!

Hi all!
Hope everyone had a blast at the yard-sale yesterday and hope you have fun checking out our Design Team projects for the month of June! I had a hard time choosing between the WONDERFUL new BoBunny lines but finally decided on the Petal Pushers papers for this two-page layout. It only took one hour start to finish using these beautiful coordinated papers - how cool is that?!?!?! I added some leftover glitter letters from a prior project and a piece of fat rick-rack I'd been saving for "just the right page" and wah-lah! And yes, those who know me expect a layout about ME every so often so you should not be surprised at the subject for this page - lol! If, by chance, your scrapbooks DON'T include pages about YOU then I hope to see you in July at my "Write More!" class. This is a follow-up to the "Write On!" journaling class but anyone who wants to learn how to include meaningful journaling in their scrapbooks and especially how to write about what's important to YOU should join us. There will be lots of samples, we'll complete several writing exercises to get the creative juices flowing and everyone will receive instructions and supplies to complete a two-page layout! Hope to see you all then. In the meantime - I have to pack... flat Lisa and I are off to Sweden!

Yard Sale Sunday - Rain or Shine

Hi Everyone,Photo Scraps Yard Sale Sunday June 6th 12-5 PM I just wanted to get the word out that even if it rains tomorrow, we are still having the Yard Sale (all moved inside the store in the event of rain). We have 10 vendors selling things like paper, rubberstamps, stickers and more. I'm not sure if you knew this but in a former life many moons ago, I used to sell Creative Memories. Well, I'll be selling lots of brand new 12 x12 albums, page protectors, refill pages and even some of the smaller albums at Yard Sale prices. All customer yard sale purchases must be made using Scraps Cash (store credit). We will start selling Scraps Cash around 11:30. We will have a cash box set up for cash transactions and you may use your credit card at the cash register for Scraps Cash. We will be selling the Scraps Cash in $5, $1 and $.25 increments. There is a charge minimum of $5 for credit card transactions. Remember, unused Scraps Cash can be used like cash at the store.

Quickie Father's Day card

I made this quick and easy Father's Day card today. It will be available this Sunday (6/6) at our Creative Cafe card table that is usually located toward the back of the store near the stamps. I say "usually" because we have our yard sale going on Sunday and who knows where things will get moved to for the event :) Remember that all of our cards on the Creative Cafe table are $2 each or 4 for $6. All you need is adhesive because the cards are all kitted up for you and ready to go!

New card from Laura

Hi Everyone,

I fell in love with this card from Laura.  This card actually would not be too hard to make and could even be done with just paper, no stamps.  (Of course, my windows would probably be crooked)  We are waiting on an order of the butterfly punch she used on this card.  The paper is BasicGrey Kioshi.  Look at how she finished the inside of the card.
Gorgeous!

My Demo Day card

Do you know about Demo Day? It is our version of a make-n-take day where we have a variety of different projects for you to create under our instruction. Each project is only $2 and you can make as many or as few as you like! It is a great way to come play with new product, try a technique, or make a card or a layout without having to go through the designing process yourself. We always have glue sticks on hand but recommend that you bring your favorite adhesive (remember to put your name or initials on it in case it gets left behind when you switch tables) to complete your projects. And last but not least, if you complete a specified number of projects you get a discount on your purchases that day!
Mine is a tropical (and butterfly-free) themed card. Even though I lived in FL and hated every minute of it, I have always had a thing for palm trees, and really enjoyed using this new Bo Bunny stamp to create my card. I also used one of my new favorite sentiment sets, Live Life, by Clear & Simple Stamps. You can make your card with or without the sentiment. One of the great things about Clear & Simple Stamps besides their great quality, is the fact that they are a local company, manufacturing their stamps in Gaithersburg, MD. We are happy to be able to bring them to you and to support a small local business!

Our Demo Day projects are always located above the front counter so that you can get a peek at them in person. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, 6/19 from 11-4pm for Demo Day!

Hello June!

Wow, its June 1st already?? I cannot believe how quickly 2010 is going by. June is a good month for me though because it is my BIRTHDAY month and I get to go to Bermuda. On the down side of that, I will be 40 this month. Yikes!! Being 40 scares the bejeepers out of me but I don't know why. If you come to Demo Day (Saturday 6/19 from 11 - 4pm), stop by my table, make a card, and wish me a Happy 40th because my birthday is the day before ;) In all seriousness though, it doesn't matter what age I am as long as I am alive and creating!

Let's move on to other things, such as what will be the Design Team's line for June. We are very excited to get to work with 4 new releases from Bo Bunny! We are eagerly awaiting their arrival in the store but I can tell you that they are bold, happy and bright: Peacock Lane (purple, white, teal), Petal Pushers (pink, yellow, black, green, blue), Sun Kissed (happiest one of the bunch with all the colors in a rainbow), and last but not least, Block Party (red, blue, brown, green). We are expecting our papers in this week, so come visit us to see them in person.

Keep watching the Design Team blog to see what we create, and don't forget to look at the projects in person when you come in the store!
