Adornit Blog Hop

Hello everyone,

Since we are participating in a blog hop, we may have some new visitors. I'm Tracy Beck. The owner of Photo Scraps in Eldersburg, MD. I've had the pleasure of owning the store for a year and a half now. Scrapbooking is still my passion and I scrap every chance I get. It's been a crazy week so I will be posting my summer layout tomorrow when I get to the store. In the mean time, here is a photo I took of a bear that was walking accross my hotel parking lot in the mountains of Virginia.

It's Coming!!

Yes, it's coming...August! And you know what that means? Forget back to school and all that stuff, because it means the Photo Scraps Design Team has new projects with new products coming your way, not to mention a guest designer.

I am so excited to be working on August's projects as we are using one of my favorite company's papers. And considering that I've never met a paper that I didn't love, saying that it is a favorite is high praise from me. Not only are we using an awesome company, but we are using several new paper lines from that company. And to top it all off, I am using papers that focus on my favorite holiday.

Curious? Then just keep watching here as we start unveiling our new projects beginning August 1st.

Lemonade cards

Hi all,

I'll be teaching this amazing 12 card class Tuesday night from 6-8 PM. I'll be doing some of the prep work so that we have a shot of finishing on time. There is still space available and this class can be kitted up. Please call to reserve your spot. 410-549-5187

A Little Lemonade from Lisa C.

HI Everyone,

I'm not Lisa. I worked her to the bone last week while I was gone and so I am doing her blog post while she is away. Lisa used some wonderful family photos for the layout Moments Together. Notice how she cut the doily to edge her photos and I love how the Dew Drops accent the berries and flower centers. She punched out some scrap paper with two different corner punches and layered them for a nice dimensional effect.

My First Blog

Well, it took some time but with the help of my teenage daughter, I can now post a blog! When I saw the basic grey line Lemonaide, I knew I wanted to play with their new overlays. They call them doillies, which is kind of what the solids look like. But this isn't your grandmas crocheted ones! So I grabbed my favorite one and had some fun! I wanted to make a two page spread out of one overlay, so I cut out the part "hidden" behind my photos. Once I got those scraps from page one, I added them to the corners of page two. All that was left for me to add were my favorite embelishment, buttons! What an easy layout with only three pieces of decorative paper and some cardstock to mount my pictures with. I must say I am quite pleased with myself!

Gina also whipped up a fun Lime Ricky layout using our new Mudd Puddles sand.

More Lemonade anyone?

Yet another card from me using the fab Lemonade line from Basic Grey. I love to mix patterns, and I think these 2 went together very well. I added a little bling, a little ribbon, scalloped a border with a Fiskars punch, and inked up a Hero Arts stamp that I adore. Love the little Cat's Eye size chalk pads to put multiple ink colors onto a stamp.

Another card

Here is the card I was working on the other night...you know, the night my youngest wouldn't leave me alone for 2 seconds. He is busy playing by my desk right now, and I was able to finish this simple but elegant card.

Thirst quenched (a little bit)

I finally got a chance to play just a bit with the Lemonade. It is so fun and cheery! I've made 2 cards so far and have a 3rd in the works on my desk right now. Will it get done tonight? I can't say for sure because my almost 6-yr old is hovering over my shoulders and won't leave me alone. Anyone else know that feeling??

So, my first Lemonade card has the ever-adorable Bella on it. She is so much fun to color. She has been colored in with Copics and finished off with a little ribbon and Kaiser bling (in one of their new colors). I used a Fiskars border punch on the piece of Lemonade.

My 2nd Lemonade card uses a Hero Arts stamp, a Nestabilitie to make the word window, a little ribbon, and a fab paper flower from our Creative Cafe buckets. I am very happy with the simplicity and prettiness of these 2 cards. Sometimes I have the urge to go overboard and decorate the heck outta my cards, but I resisted this time :)

Lemonade anyone?

Hi from Lisa H.!
This month's challenge was a joy, not a challenge at all!! These Lemonade papers by Basic Grey are such fun--your only problem will be which ones to choose. The cherry motif for me on one of the papers couldn't be more prefect because I had some adorable pictures of my daughter with our dog playing in the cherry blossoms--it was a match made in heaven! Notice I also used the Basic Grey opaline pearl bling on the center picture--love it! The bling is so easy to work with...it all comes off in one piece or you can cut it apart for size. I tied in the pearl idea with the Liquid Pearls in the centers of the buttons instead of emb. floss. Cute! I also like how the new large ricrac looks as a border on both pages. We have that ricrac in tons of colors and 2 sizes. I like using ribbon on my pages also and more likely than not, you will see that I have stapled it on; I like the look of the cute colored staples and the ribbon adds nice dimension! Come check out the Lemonade line and join our challenge for customers to create a layout or cards--you could be the winner! See the blog for more details!! Bye for now....Lisa H, aka: the tall Lisa!! :)

Hi from Gina A!

Once again, had a great time using this month's products! You can't really tell from the internet pic (so you need to come into the store to check out the actual layout ... such a tough assignment, I know ... as if a visit to Photoscraps isn't the best minimum-daily-requirement ever - LOL!) Anyway, the printed paper has a tiny ladybug design which immediately led me to doing a layout about my daughter Caitlin's involvement in her college sorority, ASA. Their "mascot" is a ladybug, so the tie-in worked beautifully. I kept the design simple, using scraps of papers from the line as my embellishments as well as one of the rub-ons in the corner of the focal point photo. This is an easy design to "scraplift" ... (and if you're just beginning and don't know what that term means, stop by to sign up for one of my monthly 101 classes!) Finally, I had to add a few ladybug die-cuts ... look for them in our "SPRING" corner of the store. Enjoy the extra-long days of July - perfect for squeezing in some scrapping time. I had a ball at the crop last Friday night ... looking forward to seeing many of you at the other crops this month! 'Happy Scrapping' from Gina A.!

Overacheiver Here

Hi everyone,

Of course, I have a completed Lemonade project. I took it with me to the scrapbook convention so I could be done early. The papers in this line have such pretty colors and patterns. The die cut sheets are so perfect for cutting apart. I'll get photos of the 12, yes 12, cards that I made that show off the fabulous die cuts.

I hit my button stash hard for this one. Luckily, we have tons of buttons at the Creative Cafe Bar.

Do you remember me mentioning a Contest for a Guest Design Team member? Here is how the contest will work. We made up a Basic Grey kit that has lots of buttons, ribbons and papers for you to make a layout or whatever creation you come up with. The kit is available behind the counter for just $12. You do not need to use everything in the kit but you do need to use at least 90% Basic Grey with the majority of the layout or card or altered project being the New Lemonade line. You need to submit your projects to the store by July 22nd and we will have voting via a poll on the Design Team Blog and the email. The winner will receive a spot on next months Design Team and a free kit for next month. You will be featured on the blog next month and in an email for all to see. Here is the featured kit.

Are you thirsty??

There is nothing like a cold glass of lemonade on a hot day, and there is nothing like Basic Grey's hot new Lemonade papers to quench the creative thirst! Yes, our paper line this month is the newly released Lemonade by Basic Grey. It is bright and fun and yummy!

I have nothing to show off yet, between making Amusapalooza samples, taking the kids to the pool, and my summer class, I have had no time to play in the Lemonade. But as usual, we have some overachievers and they have some samples ready to show off. Stay tuned!
