June Is Here and so is My Little Shoebox

Hi Everyone,

Lisa and I picked out some whimsical papers from My Little Shoebox for this month's design team. These papers and embellishments are filled with birds and happy colors. I just love the glitter Alphabet stickers. They have great texture and the glitter doesn't come off.

I made this two page layout using my photos from this Easter. I cut out the swirls from the clear overlay sheet and added a bit of stickles for some bling.

My Little Shoebox

Woo hoo - June is around the corner and that means the Design Team has new products to play with! Not that Lime Rickey is no longer fun, but all of us paperholics are eager to play with something new. Our June DT projects will feature papers and embellishments from My Little Shoebox. The line is very colorful, whimsical, and fun. Think bright pinks and greens, browns, birdcages, swirls. Better yet...don't think about it...come on into the store and see for yourself!

We will start posting our projects on the Design Team blog beginning the first week of June, though some of us (ahem, Tracy!) have already created a handful of items and put the rest of us to shame. And they call me the overachiever - ha! The projects will be displayed in the store on our Design Team wall.

I would also like to give Chrissy a big WELCOME to our Design Team this month! You all know Chrissy from her awesome classes and fab Demo Day projects, and I personally am looking forward to seeing what she does with this product line. That chick has a trick or 2 up her sleeve, I just know it.

That's all for now!

Copic and Cuttlebug Sample Cards

Hi Everyone,

Here is a photo of the cards we made today on the Copic and Cuttlebug Demo Day. Actually, I had one card incorrect. Jill made a great birthday card with stamped candles and I got confused which cards were which. We have a couple of cards in the store..... Anyways, enjoy the inspiration.

Sneak Peek!

Here is a sneak peek at the card I have made for our monthly Copic & Cuttlebug Demo Day. It will be on Weds, 5/27. Keep watch for an email from Tracy with details about the event.
My scanner and I seem to get in little arguments anytime I have something popped on a card or bling put in a particular place, so my scan is slightly crooked :)
I used the beautiful Spellbinders Labels 4 die, fab clear stamps from Inkadinkado and Daisy Bucket, my favorite Memento color (Paris Dusk), a Copic, a little bling, and some gorgeous BoBunny paper. Hope you can join us!
Don't forget to feast your eyes on our front table when you come into the store. We always have upcoming class samples on display. I will be teaching a class on 6/6 featuring Technique Tuesday products. The class will be inky and fun, and not only will you get to walk away with 6 cards made, but you get to keep the stamp set we use, an acrylic block, a 1x1 ink pad, and lots of tile extras!

Not Lime Rickey, But it is Hero Arts

Hi Everyone,
Lisa Hetrick here. There is still room in my class this Thursday. Join me and make these super cool, funky cards using new Hero Arts stamps. You will make two of each card, 8 total and we'll wrap it all up with some funky fabric. Paper piecing, colored pencil and colored pencil shadowing. You are going to LOVE, LOVE, LOVEY how we make KRAFT look so GOOD. And, we're going to SMOOCH a little :)

Bring your favorite adhesive, some pop dots and sharp scissors.

Mmmm...Marrakech!

I know, I know, it's not Lime Rickey, but I have not been able to get enough of this "older" Basic Grey Line. I thought you all might like to see a card I've made using this yummy paper. As a matter of fact, I am using this paper line on the card I am doing at Demo Day this Saturday. This card uses a butterfly from a clear Inkadinkado set and one of the awesome new EK Sucess punches. The butterfly was stamped in Bahama Blue Memento ink then colored with some Copics.
Memento ink is my personal favorite ink to use when I am coloring images with Copic markers. It dries quickly and never smears. I've collected almost all of their 24 colors, my most recent purchases being Sweet Plum and Pear Tart which the store just received earlier in the week.

Lisa Castaneda (the blonde)

Hi! I am Lisa Castaneda (aka the blonde one)and I have been working at the scrapbook store for 5 1/2 years. For the last 2 1/2 years I have been honored to hold the position as store manager. The best part of my job, besides the obvious, the friendly and inspiring customers, is helping to do the buying for the store! Nothing is better than spending Tracy's money! If you have been in the store during the day shift when the boxes arrive, you have heard our excited squeals as we unpack the papers and embellishments that feed the addiction we all share. This is without a doubt the best "job" I have ever had. I cannot believe I get paid to play with my hobby! In my other life, before motherhood, I was a regional account coordinator for Elizabeth Arden cosmetics. I had all of the Macy's stores in MD, VA, and DE and spent a lot of time in headquarters in NY. I gave up the big career to dedicate myself to my family. George and I have been very happily married for almost 19 years. George, Jr., 16, is a junior at Century. Kristin, 14, will begin at CHS in the fall. Taylor, my 10-year old baby, will begin middle school also in the fall. They keep me hopping with year round sports;including travel baseball and dance teams! I seem to lack the ability to successfully use the word "no". Like all moms, I have worn many hats over the years: room mother (16 times), team mom for soccer, softball and dance, PTA officer and committee chairs, fundraising chair at SMS and SRCS dance as well as holding crops for ALS in memory of my mother. Yes, sometimes life is a little too busy but it keeps life interesting. My love for scrapbooking began 11 years ago after attending an at-home party (like most of us). My first purchase was a corner rounder and an 8.5 x 11" album to preserve the memories of our Disney vacation. The first book provides great chuckles now when looking back at my novice attempts at scrapbooking. I cherish that book perhaps most of all because it shows what a long way the industry and my personal style has come. Whether throwing together quick & simple layouts or creating hours-long masterpieces, I love scrapbooking and all it has added to my life. Without it I would not have this creative & therapeutic outlet. Nor would I have this wonderful job that brings me such fulfillment and joy. Nor would I have the bookcases full of carefully preserved memories of my children's lives. Most importantly, my life would not be blessed with many of my friends without scrapbooking.

Another Layout from Tracy

Hi Everyone,

I couldn't help it, I just had to do another layout with Lime Rickey. This time I also combined it with Technique Tuesday Technique Tiles. I inked them up and then stamped over them to create a pattern.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms I work with, and to all the wonderful moms that come to the store! I hope each and every one of you have been celebrated today. We all know that motherhood is one tough job. My gift from hubby and kids was that I got to sleep until 10:30 this morning, and not have to do the dishes!! I don't know about any of you, but for me that beats flowers any day.

This past week I made a fun file folder card using our DT paper line, Lime Rickey. I added an Inkadinkado butterfly stamp to it and I think it finished it off perfectly. This card, while not very practical because it does not like to sit up, was very fun to make, and I can see making more of them in my future.

I have also been busy making other things that do not involve Lime Rickey, and will show them off here on the blog in the next day or so.

In the meantime, I am prepping for my Hero Arts Wild Flowers class on Thursday. Come join me if you can!

I did another layout

I just love this paper line and had some scraps left over. So, I showed this layout to the Lisa's when I came to the store today and guess what? They just had to sing the title to me. That's how we are here. Bad Singers.

I also forgot to post photos of the Ocean chipboard book I made using the new Bo Bunny individual chipboard letters.

Lime Rickey Layout from Lisa C.

Hi All,

Can you beleive I have another blog challenged employee? I'm going to sign in for her tomorrow and teach her how to make an entry. In the mean time, here is her fun layout using Technique Tiles from Technique Tuesday. She is going all stamper on us with her inking and stamping on the tiles.

Love me some LIME RICKEY!

Lisa Hetrick here...
I'm back and I've got a lot of pics to share. Here is my take on this months design team challenge using the ALL NEW Basic Grey Lime Rickey. RUN, don't WALK.... You have to get some of the yummy, yummy paper and embellies from this new line.

I used a Maya Road Butterfly album to create this super cute wall hanging. Lot's of Unity Stamp Company stamps in this little beauty, too. Tracy carries Unity, so be sure to pick up this super cool Mardi Gras butterfly and Giggle Grove set. Tracy rocks, she carries everything I've designed for Unity. I'm loving the NEW Dew Drops. I used them all over the place. AND..... if you haven't tried the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, you have to get some NOW. I sprayed it on the naked chipboard to give it color, shine and bling. TRY it out! I used the green and the orange on my butterflies.

I just love the new man in my life so much (aka RICKEY) that I had to create some more with him. Here are two fun, spunky and definitely colorful cards using LIME RICKEY and the new Cornish Heritage Farms, Kim Hughes Collection Stamps. If you haven't seen these stamps, they are super fun to stamp and COPIC COLOR.

Yes, I said COPIC. LOVE, LOVE, LOVEY the Copics.

Here's a layout from Gina Painter

Hi Everyone,

Gina Painter wanted me to write something for her blog entry. She is a little blog shy. Luckily, she is not layout shy. Gina really played with circles this layout and used some of Technique Tuesday's Techinque Tiles for even more circles on this layout. If you don't have a circle trimmer, the Technique Tiles can be used for tracing the circle shape on the paper for cutting out the circle. Gina has also been known to use her dishes for large circle shapes. If you mess up a little on the edges while cutting, you can use Gina's brad trick to cover the edges. The brads make a great edge and they add even more circles to the layout.

Hello Everyone!!

Hi guys!
Yes, there are really three Lisa's that work at Photo Scraps--it gets a bit confusing at times! Allow me to introduce myself....I am Lisa H., aka: the tall (and... insert your own adjective here) Lisa and have been with the store since its beginning. Eight years already!! I couldn't be more thrilled with the direction our store is going and am so proud to be a part of our fabulous staff!! We have so much fun at work, and working with such amazing co-workers makes me one happy girl!!

I started scrapbooking almost 13 years ago when my son was born. I received a scrapbook as a gift, put it in a drawer and promptly forgot about it. Well, we were living in Alaska at the time and as you can imagine, there is a lot of time spent indoors because of the weather. I was a quilter at that time and was not interested in another hobby. But, seeing that I had time to kill.....I got the scrapbook and goodies out of the drawer and low and behold, was instantly hooked!! I found so many similarities between quilting and scrapping--color choices, layout, balance, theme, etc. I have never looked back. I haven't quilted in years and now count scrapping as my most favorite hobby, with a little rubber stamping on the side. I count on decorative papers, brads, ribbons and chipboard to inspire and find myself drifting toward "happy" papers. Looking forward to the most happy new Doodlebug lines that are coming soon to our store.

I honestly feel that my motivation for scrapping is that it makes the memory permanent. Once the layout is on paper, you can pick up the album and relieve that memory over and over. I have such a blessed life and looking through my albums helps me remember how lucky I am. Well, more from me later. Come see us at the store soon and we will try to inspire you, and most likely make you smile also!!

Enjoy my layout with this most happy Lime Rickey paper. I felt inspired by the circles and birdies papers and remembered some pictures of my kids at the water slide I was trying to scrap. These papers were perfect for this! I am loving the Dew Drops, using them around the circle picture of Jake!! Glad to be a part of our Design Team. Lisa H.
