Hello from Gina A.!

Hello all! Just loved this month's Design Team paper choices. I am NOT a winter person so I'm very happy to have some spring colors to work with! Ironically, I had used the beautiful Jubilee paper to create favors for my mother-in-law's recent 90th birthday celebration, so I was thrilled to be able to select that design and coordinating papers to create these layouts about her party. I added some flowers from our Creative Cafe bin and the new "leaf" stick pins from Little Yellow Bicycle. I "blinged" them with some gift-wrap shredded celephane and I LOVE how they turned out- it brings out the glitter in the paper and compliments the sparklers we lit on my mother-in-law's cake!

I always tell my 101 students that it's OK to scraplift, and these pages are a perfect example of my own scraplifting techniques! Check out the layout called "family" by Anabele O'Malley on page 37 of the May 2010 Scrapbook Trends magazine and you'll see where I got my inspiraion for this page. Then check out the selection of scrapbook magazines and books we have a Photoscraps - all good sources of scrapping ideas!

Happy scrapping - and/or scraplifting! - everyone!

NEW Flower Soft class teaser

I will be teaching a brand new Flower Soft card class on Saturday March 26th! We will be making 4 cards in the class and we will be using 1 main image (the tree and leaves by Impression Obsession) on all our cards. Each card will represent the 4 seasons. So, as a little teaser, here is the first card I have designed for the class.

Does this card remind you of DC's world famous cherry blossom trees? I certainly hope so because that is what I was trying to emulate. You know Spring is really here when those gorgeous cherry blossom trees are in full bloom.

Stay tuned to the blog for the rest of the class samples and come join me on 3/26 to create the cards!

Peeps 'n Alphies

Spring is coming! I just know it is! Even though its still chilly outside, it was fun to sit at my warm & cozy desk playing with the vibrant Peeps paper collection from We R Memory Keepers.

The colors were perfect with my family's Easter attire last Spring! I always have to get my hands on We R's chipboard words as they make the perfect addition to any layout.

Do you have a stash of can't-live-without-'em alphabets? I confess, alphies are one of my weaknesses. They just add so much to a page by pulling it all together. The two different alphie sets I used are new releases from CHA that I was fortunate enough to get my hands on (they will be in store soon!). The blue corrugated alphies are from my new fave company Jillibean Soup while the yellow printed alphies are part of the new American Crafts Thickers collection (These will be at Photo Scraps on Thursday 2/17). The final touches were bling added to the titles and a few flourishes from my stash (yes, another weakness!).

Stampavie stamps

Every once in a while I get a case of "cute". Have you seen some of the Rachael Anne Miller line of stamps from Stampavie? We are placing a special order with Stampavie at the end of February. I am not sure how long this company takes to ship, but I will be teaching a class using some of these stamps in either April or May and wanted to let you know about it so that you don't miss out on ordering them if you need to have them in your stamp collection. I have a few of their stamps and they are very high quality photopolymer and stamp well, plus they are a ball to color with your Copics!

These are the images we will be working with in the class:
SAV-RM42 Birthday Monkeys
SAV-RM47 Garden Bears
SAV-RM48 Happy Piggies
SAV-RM44 Hoppy Spring
Please call the store before the end of the month to place your special order for these stamps.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

New class...Sympathy Cards

Join me Saturday March 5th from 12 - 2:30 for an all new class focused on Sympathy Cards. These are some of the toughest cards to make just due to the subject alone and I have had a lot of requests to do a class based solely around this theme. We will be making 5 cards total and I will be teaching you a wonderful Cuttlebug technique (can you guess which on that is?) that you can do on any type of card.

Notice the animal sympathy card? This is my favorite card out of this class. I was so touched to receive sympathy cards from my friends when my beloved dog of 14 years passed away in May 2010. For many of us, our furry friends are family and I did not want to leave them out when I created this class.

I look forward to seeing you on the 5th!

How cool is that!

The next DT card

Happy Monday, everyone! Just a quick post from me before I get to work for the day. My 2nd card using We R Memory Keepers "Peep" line is in the store for viewing. I forgot to take a picture of it though, so I don't have anything to show off here :( However, for those who see it in person and are interested in how it was done, I used one design from Peep, 2 paper flowers coloring each of them with a different Copic marker then added some Dew Drops and a button, plus a Hero Arts sentiment. A very quick and easy card!

Remember that if you want to customize your embellishments to match your cards or your pages, the Copic markers are wonderful for accomplishing that task!

TGIF!

Thank goodness for February! I bet you thought I was going to say Friday, didn't you? I am thankful for February because that means we are one step closer to Spring, and I have a terrible case of Spring fever right now. To celebrate the coming of Spring, the Design Team is focusing on We R Memory Keepers fun, bold, and colorful line called Peeps.

The card I am showing you today uses one of the pretty floral patterns in the line and lots of layers. I don't have a lot of Easter stamps, so I used one of my new Hero Arts sentiments to finish off the card, plus a new favorite background called Envelope Pattern (also by Hero Arts). The background doesn't show up very well in the picture, but it shows up well in person. Make sure to check out the Design Team wall when you are in the store!

PEEPS are in the HOUSE!

Hello Creative PEEPS,
Lisa Hetrick here. Sharing some springtime, Easter inspiration with you today! It's so stinkin' cold, I needed to CREATE something HAPPY! So, I whipped up this little Easter frame project to brighten up the day.

Have you seen the uber cute WR Memory Keepers Peep line at the store? It's bright, cheery and full of color. So, here's a little pic of the creative process and the final product. This is a canvas frame that was BEGGING for me to color it with THIS.

Adirondack Color Wash by RANGER. My favorite color, LETTUCE. I also paired my new Unity set in the top left hand corner. BANNERS, that just so happen to work with THESE.

No worries, Tracy ordered all these goodies at CHA and they will be arriving SOON!
Stay warm and get your ART on!

February's Demo Day card

Hi everyone! Seems I am a little behind on my posts for this month, and while I am still making some cards for Design Team and don't have them photographed yet, I did want to share the card we will be making at my table on Demo Day, Saturday Feb. 19th from 11 - 4 pm. We will be playing with the Smooch Spritz spray (awesome product!) on a paper flower, using one of my new fav Hero Arts background stamps (Envelope Pattern), a favorite Spellbinders die too (Lacey Squares), and making a quick, cute card that can be used for pretty much any occassion.

I look forward to seeing you then!

Design Team for February...inspired by CHA!!

Hi, sorry it has been so long since I have posted on the Design Team Blog. But, now I am back!! This layout for Design Team using the WeRMemoryKeepers easter/spring line, Peep, was so much fun to do. My inspiration came from CHA, which we just returned from last week. Ideas were flowing....colors were bright and happy {my favorite kind}...and flowers were EVERYWHERE!! The hot ideas at CHA all had to do with flowers, all kinds, using all types of products {besides just paper of course}. I put a few of the flower ideas in this layout. You'll see 4 cluster flowers that were so easy to do. If you are curious, ask me the next time you are in the store! I am there just about every day. One tip: I use a small staple from Tim Holtz' Tiny Attacher in the center of my flowers before finishing them to hold everything in place--works like a charm! Several different decorative papers from this line, lots of pretty yellow ribbon and fun bright pictures complete this layout. Anyone else completely saddened by the Super Bowl? Well, I am a diehard Steelers fan and that game was pathetic. ugh. Congrats to Green Bay!! {even the commercials weren't that great!?} See you soon--Lisa H.
