Winners of the Guest Design Team Contest

Remember how I mentioned that we were going to have a contest for a guest Design Team Member? Well, we have only received two wonderful entries. So instead of having to chose just one, both entries are winners. Each of them will get to choose $15 of product from next months design team products.

Our first Entry Winner comes from Terry B. She made this adorable two page layout with her "twin" granddaughters Adelaide and Josephine's Halloween photos. Look at the three photos she hand cut out. They just pop visually from the layout. The chipboard letters were the perfect whimsical font for a Halloween layout.
Our second winner is Essandra. If you look closely at her layout you can see that she distressed the edges of all her papers and then inked them. The distressing gives the layout some great dimension. I like how she used her own handwriting right on the background paper. I always love when other people write on their layouts.

Abby Road Notepad and Coupon cork board

Hi Everyone,

She added paper on the alligator clip and the pencil. This is so cute in person.

Sun Fun Anyone?

HI All,

I just had to post this layout from Lisa C. We have it behind the front counter and are working on having a class using these techniques. Many of you have seen the Mudd Puddles sand that we are selling. We are waiting on a new shippment of the beach colored sand as I type. Lisa used the sand to cover Technique Tuesday wave tiles and chipboard letters. This product looks so amazing on a layout and does not flake off the page. The sand is in combination with liquid acrylic to form a solid but flexible bond. The other cool thing she did was to spray the white Bazzill wave edge with Tattered Angels Spray to get the cool tie dyed effect.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to post last month's Design Team Challenge winner, Randi C's new creations. She went to work with her Cricut machine and came up with two fun Halloween projects. Hello from Gina A!

Hello fellow scrappers!
Hope you are all enjoying some good scrapping time in the nice cool air conditioning during these hot summer days. As many of you know, my family just moved at the beginning of this month. What a joy to finally unpack my scrap supplies and dig into the MME designs for this month's Design Team! I've had a lovely 6 x 6 K&Co album that was given to me by a friend (thanks Susan!) and I've been saving it for "just the right thing". Well, the MME "Ooh La La" papers matched perfectly so I was able to create this entire book about our church life with just a few of the 2-sided papers supplemented with cardstock from my "scrap stash". (Even if you aren't attracted to the beautiful colors in this line, don't you just LOVE the name?!?!?) I embellished with some fibers, a few of our Creative Cafe buttons, and the Ooh La La accessory sheet. (I even used some of the "price strip" off several sheets of paper as an embellishment, as well as the discarded portion of the accessory sheet as a scalloped edge on two pages!) Stop in to see the finished album at the store - I added extra pictures in slide-outs and fold-outs and sliced the doors of the front-door picture of our church for the opening page so I'd have a clever spot for some intro-journaling.
Happy Scrappin' ! Gina A.

Page design Contest on My Mind's Eye Blog

Hi All,

I was blog surfing and noticed that the new MME blog is having a contest thru the 20th, so it doesn't give us much time. Here are the details.

Today begins our second challenge! Your challenge is to create a layout using this sketch from PageMaps as your creative spring-board. You can change it around and do not have to use butterflies, sew or even have that exact size of photos (you know what to do with a sketch).

The rules: Use ANY My Mind’s Eye products (current or past) you’d like as long as your project has at least 80% My Mind’s Eye products.
The Deadline: Email your project to amber@mymindseye.com or add a link in a comment on this post by Thursday, August 20, 2009 (midnight, MDT).

The Fun Details: Our lucky winner will be featured in a blog post and receive one of everything from the new collection of their choice!
Everyone is a winner! We are grateful to everyone who will participate in this challenge. We will put every entry in a photo album here on the blog. By submitting, you are giving My Mind’s Eye permission to include your entry.

Cutest card ever??

This card has nothing to do with what the Design Team is doing this month, but it has everything to do with using a new toy, the Polar White Flower Soft that we got in a week or so ago. While we did get quite a shipment in, it is going quick, so come in while you can!

For those of you not familiar with Flower Soft, it is yet another way to embellish and add dimension, texture, and WOW factor to your cards, scrapbook pages, and altered art projects. It is fun, and super easy to use. I am teaching a 4 card class at the end of this month featuring Flower Soft. Come join me!

But let's get back to this super cute (maybe the cutest ever?) sheep card...For this one, I used Flower Soft in Polar White, Memento ink, Copic markers, a Cuttlebug embossing folder, some Dew Drops, a heart punch, and an awesome stamp set from Unity called Love Ewe. I must admit, it is my one and only stamp of sheep, but it was so darn cute that I couldn't resist it!!

And while I'm at it, I'll also include a pic of another card I did with the Polar White Flower Soft; this time its a winter tree scene. Again, I used a Cuttlebug folder, Memento ink, Copic Markers, and Dew Drops, but also some ribbon and a tree stamp. I used one of my favorite layouts (3 panels in the background) and I really pleased with how the card turned out.
Both of these cards are in the store if you'd like to see them up close and in person.

Cindy

Proceed with caution...

Here is the first of some creepy Halloween cards. I used the same SEI stamp set that I've used on some of my other cards, but this time I embossed the spider in a sparkly black EP and of course used the gorgeous MME papers on my card. In hindsight, I probably should have embossed the word "caution", but I didn't and for once I am just going to let the card be. Ever have those moments where you keep messing with your art thinking it is not done, then by the time you are finished you've gone way overboard?? Yeah, I am sure all of you know what I am talking about :)

Happy Spider card

I wish all spiders looked this happy! lol

I love Halloween and the girls here made me wanna jump right in and make something to do with Halloween too!

I made the spider with 3 different sizes of circle punches and a white gel pen. Super easy!

Thats all folks!! :)

Chrissy

fun!

I had some extra paper left over from my cd case so I made a few cards.
I love Changito! Hes too cute!
Nothing fancy here... I stamped him on watercolor paper and colored him in with watercolor markers... oh and of course Stickles.

Chrissy

Round and Round

Now as most of you know I never scrapbook any of my own photos!! The new My Minds Eye papers make you want to use your photos... so thats what I did.
When I picked up this line I knew just what pics I needed to go home and print out!

My little man was so very afraid of his bike... the day of his 6th birthday he got on and rode away... yep... just like that!

So I made the clear cd case to display his "brave" photos in.

Chrissy

Nice Ride with My Minds Eye!

Hi crafters!
This is Gina P. and I got a taste of the new MME product line Beep Beep. It is a great new boy line that also works for girls, if you have both in the family like us and don't want your layouts to look too girly! Easy to use products that all coordinate make scrapbooking fun and fast, if you can believe that! I love all the new lines in Abbey Road because of their versatility for all your everyday photos. If you need more inspiration for their new stuff, check out our link to Kasey's Utube video of his booth at Orlando's CHA. If he doesn't make you want to run out and buy his proucts than you must not have a pulse! I can't wait until he's back in Md. when he comes to visit us in Sept., and yes he is just as cute in person!

Loving My Mind's Eye!!!

Hello all from Lisa H.!! I couldn't be more thrilled with this month's company for the Design Team. MME has the happiest designs and freshest color schemes; and I have to admit, it makes scrappin' oh so much easier when all the embellies/papers coordinate. Several things I did to this layout to make it special: 1. I used a craft knife (I like the EKSuccess retractable knife) to cut into the pink swirl to allow 2 of the photos to tuck behind it. 2. I used lime greens stickles to highlight the green dots around the swirls--I love to accent with a little bling! 3. I used light green dew drops on the flowers on the top left corner of the right page--love those little rascals! I put them on everything!! 4. Last, I used the bird diecut on the bottom left page to create a place to hide my journaling block--just pull on the green ribbons and viola! instant story. Hope to see you soon at the store---lots of great new products and inspiration for you! I'm off the beach, hoorah!! Lisa H.--aka: the tall Lisa

It's GETTING SPOOKY!

Hi Everyone,
Lisa Hetrick here. Just a couple of things to share with you all this lovely Friday. As you may know, the new design team projects for the month of August are up in the store. This month we all worked with the NEW My Minds Eye line, just released. I chose all the funky and fun Halloween themed products for my creations. AND....

I'm also showcasing some of my new UNITY releases. Hot of the presses, just last week in fact. They were debuted at CHA in Orlando and you are getting a SNEEKIE PEEKIE because pics aren't even up on the Unity website, yet. No worries.... Tracy ordered everything. NEW HOLIDAY stamp sets TOO.

Don't you just love this turkey. It's from a new set called BUILD A TURKEY, designed by my fabby friend Lindsay Spencer for Unity.
Next up.... Supa DUPA fun Autumn set created for Unity. This set is HUGE. Big Pumpkins and leaves and sentiments and a whimsically fun swash of leaves blowing in the wind. I collaborated with my Unity gal pal Lindsay on this one. OH MY, Check out the MY MINDS EYE. LOVE THAT DAMASK from the Halloween Line.
And finally......
I whipped up this cute little CD case/mini scrapbook album using all the Halloween line from MME. You WILL LOVEY the die cuts in this line. The papers are yummo and the die cuts are graphic and fun. I also added my new CANDY CORN TREE stamp from Unity in here. Super fun.

Just one more thing.... There's still ROOM in my class coming up next week. We are debuting the NEW MEMORY BOX holiday line of stamps, papers and card bases. In my class, you'll create all of these cards and use my new Unity Holiday sentiments. Of course we are using Copics in this class, too. Oh and bling. Did I mention the Bling. They are HUGE and perfect for cards and scrapbooking. SIGN UP. CALL NOW. I see you.... Pick up the phone and call the store. Tee hee.

See you soon. There is still ROOM in tomorrow's COPIC 102 class. JOIN ME for some serious COPIC FUN.

Lisa :)

Hey pumpkin!

Here is a quick little card using a SEI clear stamp and some of that fab MME Halloween paper. Add to it a couple of Dew Drops, a scalloped photo corner and some Stickles, and voila, you have yourself a cute quick card.

This is one of those layouts that can lend itself to any occasion you need a card for. Just change up the background (whether it is a decorative paper or a stamped background) and the main image, and you have a quick birthday card, or thank you, or whatever it is that you need. I love layouts that can be replicated over and over for different occasions because the card never looks the same twice even though you use the same layout.

Cindy

Eeeek...a spider!!

At least this spider is a cutie, because I hate the real thing! Here is another card using MME's Halloween line of papers and the spider came from their die cut sheet. I searched for days for googly eyes in my stash and finally had to harvest them off a card I made last year. I could not post this little guy without googly eyes :)

New Layout from Tracy

Hi Everyone,

I can't tell you how much I love the New My Mind's Eye papers. Two new Halloween lines, Two new Christmas lines, Two new everyday lines AND their Abby Road lines that have lots of different papers and embellies for topics like travel. I'll have photos on Thursday.

I used their cute little boy/outdoor papers for my layout of Brian rock climbing while we were in Massanutten. He discovered when he was almost at the top that he was a bit afraid of the height. He wouldn't just repel down. He climbed down. I guess it wasn't too bad because he climbed a second time.

Welcome to August!

Here it is, August and the dog days of summer. It also means that we have new projects to show off. Our focus this month is on the new My Mind's Eye lines. There are several and they are all gorgeous! I love MME with it huge variety of patterns and colors, not to mention the thickness and quality of their paper, and don't forget that lots of their papers come "preblinged" with glitter. I was practically drooling when Tracy showed me what we were getting to create with.

From what we could choose in the new lines, I dove right in and grabbed Halloween. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Maybe it is the candy, maybe it is seeing all the kids dressed up and carefree, or maybe its the candy :) I've always loved Halloween and horror movies/books and spooks and ghosts and all the stuff that goes along with it. This is also my favorite holiday to create cards for, and I may even try a layout using some photos from last year's costume ball at my children's elementary school. I am not making any promises though :)

Here are the first 2 cards I've made using MME's holiday line. These 2 cards are cute and fun, but be prepared for spooky and creepy as the month goes on. Make sure to come in to the store and see all the different design team creations!
